Lewisham Labour officially launched Cllr Amanda De Ryk’s campaign to become the next Mayor of Lewisham over the weekend, with party members, residents, and local MPs Ellie Reeves, Janet Daby, and Vicky Foxcroft attending the event.
Cllr Amanda De Ryk, who represents Blackheath ward and has served as Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources, and Performance for the past eight years, will be seeking to succeed Mayor Brenda Dacres, who is stepping down in May 2026.
Amanda said:
“Lewisham is my home, and it is the home of my family. After eight years as a Cabinet Member working to keep Lewisham financially stable and making a difference for residents across the borough, I know how we can harness Lewisham’s potential and ensure that the opportunities created by a Labour Government are fully felt here.
“I am honoured to be Labour’s candidate for Mayor of Lewisham. Leading a team of all the talents is a privilege and will put our Labour team in the strongest position for the election in May and beyond.
“Thank you to all members and residents who’ve spoken to me as part of this selection—their ideas and energy will help shape our campaign and programme for the years ahead.
“My ambition is clear: a Lewisham where every child gets a fair start, where every resident can live in a decent home, and where no one’s health or chances in life are limited by where they live. That ambition will guide my priorities as Mayor.
“It’s time to come together, fight for every vote, and deliver for the people of Lewisham.”
The campaign launch marked the official start of Amanda De Ryk’s mayoral campaign, with party members, residents, and local MPs coming together to support her and engage with the community ahead of the local elections on 7 May 2026.
