This week Mayor Damien Egan visited a new council housing development in Deptford. The scheme was 100% affordable and was made up of a mixture of flats available for families both on the social housing waiting list and those who are looking to get onto the housing ladder. With 56 properties in total, 22 were available for families on the council’s housing waiting list and 34 available for shared ownership. These homes were part of the Building for Lewisham programme and shows how Lewisham Labour is delivering for local residents in tackling the housing crisis.

Mayor Egan said: “I’m pleased we’ve been able to deliver a high-quality, 100% genuinely affordable housing development that includes homes for families on our housing waiting list and for local people who have been struggling to get onto the housing ladder.

“Tackling the housing crisis requires innovative solutions that meet the different needs of our residents and thanks to the council’s acquisition of this project, we’ve been able to do just that.”
