Children’s mental health funding

  • Lewisham Labour have pushed children’s mental health and wellbeing up the agenda, secured an additional £2 million for CAMHS, driving up investment from £5.2million per year to £7.1million per year (a rise of 36%) and substantially reduced waiting times.  

Free School Meals for 11,000 families

  • Lewisham Labour made Free School Meals available in the school holidays when the government wouldn’t. This benefitted 11,000 Lewisham families and prevented holiday hunger during the school holidays.

Reduced young person re-offending rate

  • Lewisham Labour have reduced the re-offending rate of young people in Lewisham by 2.7% and the number of re-offences per child by 12.7%, significantly higher than the London average. 

Teachers working conditions

  • Lewisham Labour have committed to supporting hard-working teaching staff and support staff by agreeing to a ‘Fair Workload Charter’ with trade unions and schools.

Fewer young people entering the criminal justice system

  • Lewisham Labour have reduced the number of Lewisham young people entering the criminal justice system by 30%, compared to the London average of just 5%.
