Lewisham Labour have prevented 816 homeless cases since March 2020 and prevented landlords from illegally evicting 75 tenants during the pandemic. Since 2018, we have prevented or relieved over 2,800 homelessness cases by securing existing or alternative accommodation.
Affordable housing
Lewisham Labour have increased the percentage of affordable housing in developments built in Lewisham to 28%, compared to an average of 19%in the last administration. Every two in three of these affordable homes are new social homes (67%).
Protecting private renters
Lewisham Labour have served 1,476 notices on private landlords requiring action to be taken to bring properties up to standard and comply with legislation to protect tenants in their homes.
Cladding removal
Lewisham Labourhave removed ACM cladding from three tower blocks shortly after the tragic Grenfell fire. We secured £9m from the Government to replace cladding, retrofit sprinklers, and for new window and roofing works for two other blocks.

Lewisham Labour‘s council are the first in the country to pilot ProxyAddress, a groundbreaking scheme to help people experiencing homelessness access vital support services.
