Lewisham Labour saddened by the death of Councillor Crada Onuegbu

Lewisham Labour is saddened by the death of Councillor Crada Onuegbu.

Crada was first elected to Lewisham Council in 2002 and she represented Evelyn Ward in the north of Lewisham for 14 years.

Crada served as Cabinet Member for Children and Young People and as Cabinet Member for Community Safety. She worked tirelessly for the residents of Evelyn.

A minute’s silence will be held at the next Council meeting in her memory. Our deepest condolences go to Crada’s loved ones.

Mayor Steve Bullock, said "Crada made an outstanding contribution to our borough in many ways. Her understanding of the issues which faced our community in the context of dealing with crime and safety was outstanding and her commitment to our young people was unstinting. I am proud to have had Crada as a colleague and a friend and I know that we lost a great servant of our borough. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time."

Cllr David Michael said; “I was sorry to learn that my Evelyn Ward Councillor colleague Councillor Crada Onuegbu passed away. Crada was a torch bearer for greater representation of women and Black and Minority Ethnic colleagues on Lewisham Council and the other structures of Lewisham Labour Party. She held strong convictions around all aspects of the Equalities agenda. She will be missed.”

Vicky Foxcroft MP, said; 'I was very sad to hear of Crada's death. She had served as a Councillor for many years and cared deeply about our community.'
