Labour select Joyce Jacca to fight the Evelyn By-election

Evelyn Labour Party have selected Joyce Jacca to fight the Evelyn By-election.

The by-election was called following the sad death of Cllr Crada Onuegbu recently. Cllr Onuegbu had served on Lewisham Council for 14 years, including as cabinet member for Community Safety and for Children and Young People. She passed away two weeks ago following a long illness.

Joyce Jacca lives in Evelyn and has been a Deptford resident for over 13 years. Joyce has extensive experience as a community development worker in the area, including on the Sure Start Parent Advisory Group, the Lewisham Ethnic Minorities Partnership, and the 2000 Community Action Centre management committee.

Joyce would put the community first. She would campaign to stop Tory cuts from hitting Evelyn, and to protect local services. Joyce would champion diversity and equality, and she would fight for decent homes for all.

Joyce Jacca said 'I live in Evelyn and I care deeply about our community. I'd fight for local people and local services. I'd work hard for Evelyn as your Councillor.'

Vicky Foxcroft MP said; 'Joyce is an active member of her local community and I know she will stand up for local residents.'

Joyce and Evelyn Labour will be campaigning hard over the coming weeks. You can join them at any of the dates listed here - http://www.lewishamlabour.com/events
