Lewisham Labour's Sue Hordijenko wins Bellingham By-Election

Sue Hordijenko, Lewisham Labour's candidate, won the recent Bellingham By-Election with 57% of the vote.

She lives in the ward and will work hard for residents of Bellingham on Lewisham Council.

Sue said; 'I have never, ever, felt more proud than I do right now. As the only candidate who actually lives in Bellingham, my neighbours have given me a huge mandate, 57% of their votes, to serve them in our ward.'

'Over the last few weeks I have had many a conversation on the doorstep about what is happening in the Parliamentary Labour Party. For the record; I didn't vote for Jeremy Corbyn in the last leadership election but once he was elected he had my full support as leader. This by election has clearly shown that despite the current turmoil within our party at a national level people still hold Labour values close to their hearts and they demonstrated this when they voted.'

'I am approachable, a real grafter and I get things done. As a councillor I will do whatever it takes to ensure my neighbours are effectively represented on Lewisham Council and that we continue to have an improved quality of life in our area of the borough.'

Councillor Alan Hall said: "Bellingham residents have elected a good local candidate who will work well with the Bellingham Labour team. This is a good solid result for Lewisham Labour."

Lewisham Labour would like to thank all of the activists who campaigned for Sue and all of the voters who placed their faith in her.
